Elvis Review: Austin Butler, Tom Hanks Rule Baz Luhrmann’s Love Letter to King Elvis Presley

Few would even suspect that Elvis Presley was, is and always will be one of the best entertainers the world has ever known. From songs from thought-provoking generations to blockbuster movies, he has done it all. This version, directed by Baz Luhrmann, is yet another proof that he got the right moniker – King!

Luhrmann’s directorial is definitely one that will be considered as one of the best that 2022 has seen so far. Filled with iconic songs from Elvis Presley, the film is not only a simple tale of King’s life, but an intelligent and captivating retelling of the legend’s struggles, sacrifices and his way of conquering the world of entertainment. The trailer features two important actors – Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Speaking of Butler, the 30-year-old has clearly nailed the title character and would have you believe that he is the real Elvis Presley. They have captured the pronunciation, sound and even the smallest of moves that Elvis Presley was famous for! As the film progresses, you can watch Butler change and take us through the changes in Elvis’ life. And trust me, when I say yes, he doesn’t disappoint at all!

Speaking of Tom Hanks, his look as Colonel Tom Parker is on point! Hanks is almost unrecognizable and, as always, he also makes us believe that Elvis Presley’s “manipulative” manager is back to life. Hanks has always played such characters and this time too he has mastered the pronunciation, movement and dialogue delivery.

The cast includes Olivia DeJong as Priscilla Presley, Dacre Montgomery as Steve Binder, and Calvin Harrison Jr. as Bibi King. and ‘No one can offer a better show than this.’ Overall, Luhrmann has brought the great Elvis Presley back to life with Butler and Hanks!
