Elon Musk’s Starlink Company Registers in India, Targets Rural Areas for Satellite Internet

Elon Musk’s Satellite Internet Division starlink Have registered your business in India. The development was announced in a LinkedIn post by Sanjay Bhargava, Country Director, Starlink India.

Starlink is one of a growing number of companies launching small satellites as part of a low-Earth orbiting network to provide low-latency broadband Internet services around the world, with a particular focus on remote areas. where there is a struggle to access the terrestrial Internet infrastructure.

In India, Starlink plans to “advance the telecom services business” which includes satellite broadband Internet services, content storage and streaming, multi-media communications, among others, according to the company’s filing.

It will work in equipment such as satellite phones, network equipment, wired and wireless communication equipment as well as data transmission and reception equipment.

According to the company’s presentation shared by Bhargava on LinkedIn over the weekend, Starlink separately said it would focus on “catalyzing rural growth” in India through its broadband services.

Once permission is granted to provide services, Starlink will, in the first phase, give 100 devices free of cost to schools in Delhi and adjoining rural districts. It will then target 12 rural districts across India.

The company aims to have 200,000 Starlink devices in India by December 2022, of which 80 percent will be in rural districts, the presentation said. Starlink has already received over 5,000 pre-orders for its devices in India.

SpaceX has been testing Starlink satellite internet extensively for months. Earlier this year, Speedtest Intelligence data indicated that Starlink satellite broadband offers an average of 97.23 Mbps download speeds and 13.89 Mbps upload speeds in the US. The average speed of wired broadband in the US is around 115.22 Mbps for downloads and 17.18 Mbps for uploads. The average download speed of HughesNet is 19.73 Mbps while that of ViaSat is around 18.13 Mbps.

In Canada, Starlink was offering 86.92Mbps download speed, which is faster than the 84.24Mbps speed for fixed broadband. In upload speed, fixed broadband at 17.76 Mbps is just ahead of Starlink’s 13.63 Mbps. In France too, Starlink is well ahead of 58.17 Mbps and 18.16 Mbps fixed broadband with 139.39 Mbps download speed and 23.98 Mbps upload speed. In the UK, fixed broadband clocks in at 50.14Mbps and 14.76Mbps speeds, respectively, which Starlink trumps with 108.30Mbps and 15.64Mbps speeds. musk Starlink promises internet speeds of up to 300 Mbps globally.
