He further raised the issue of transfer of funds under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) by the Central Government to the State Governments.
“If you give the state government’s GST money, then Maharashtra government will be able to take some more steps, this is our right money. Legally, Rs 35,000 to 40,000 crores of GST money has to come from the central government, first give us that money and Then pointed fingers at us,” Sawant said.
In a relief to consumers, the Finance Ministry on Wednesday announced reduction of excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 per liter and excise duty on diesel by Rs 10 per liter. in between record high fuel prices, this is the first cut central excise in more than three years.
After the announcement of the central government, many BJP ruled states also announced cuts. VAT on petrol and diesel in their own states.
