Election Commission to release final voter list, meetings underway to discuss modalities for election 2022

New Delhi: The new electoral rolls for the upcoming assembly elections in five states will be released today by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The Election Commission, during its visit to Lucknow, had made it clear that the new electoral rolls would be released by January 5, and the election dates would be announced after that.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ajay Kumar Shukla will also hold a press conference in Lucknow today at 3 pm at the Election Commission’s office regarding the review of voter list.

Since this is the last date for the release of the voter list, the CEO can provide important information on the same in the press conference. According to ABP News sources, not only will the election dates be announced anytime after the release of the new voter list, but the model code of conduct will also be implemented soon.

The ECI will also hold a virtual meeting which can be seen as a continuation of their Tuesday meeting which was held to discuss the new guidelines for the elections. According to sources, 10 major points were to be discussed in yesterday’s meeting, but could not be completed, so those issues will be kept in today’s meeting.

After this meeting, ECI will also hold virtual meetings with state officials. Only after the meeting between the officials is over, the Election Commission will give a final statement on how the elections will be conducted.

ECI will also hold a virtual meeting with Manipur CEO, DGP, Chief Secretary, other senior officials and representatives of political parties.
