Election 2022: BJP President JP Nadda to finalize remaining candidates for state elections

New Delhi: BJP Central Election Committee (ECI) has authorized party president JP Nadda to finalize the names of remaining BJP candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Goa, Uttarakhand and Punjab. The decision comes a few days before the polling in five states begins on February 10.

A party source shared this information with news agency ANI, which also said that BJP may announce all its candidates by the end of this month.

BJP has announced 165 out of 403 assembly seats in UP and 34 out of 65 for Punjab assembly. 59 out of 70 candidates for Uttarakhand and 34 out of 40 for Goa Assembly have been finalised.

The above source also told ANI that the BJP CEC will meet today to discuss the Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Punjab elections.

Polling in seven phases for five states will begin on February 10. In Uttar Pradesh, the first phase of polling will be held on February 10, the second phase on February 14, the third phase on February 20 and the fourth phase. On February 23, the fifth phase will be on February 27, the sixth phase on March 3 and the seventh and final phase on March 7.

In Manipur, polling will be held in two phases, i.e. on February 27 and March 3. Polling will be held in Uttarakhand and Goa on February 14 and in Punjab on February 20. The polling date for Punjab was postponed from February 14 to February 20. In view of the situation of Kovid-19 in the State at the request of the State Government.

The results of the assembly elections will be declared on March 10.
