In form of Bhabnipur West Bengal is going to vote in the by-elections today, elderly voters are keeping the hope of democracy alive with enthusiasm.

Balwinder Kaur and Shivnath Bose, both 75 years old, are seen putting their hardships aside in polling stations to thwart their democratic rights.

Balwinder Kaur is unable to walk and she came in a rickshaw. The journey from the rickshaw to the booth was difficult for her but still she showed her voter ID card with great strength and a smile on her face and said, ‘I have come to vote because it is our right to vote. Everyone should come out and vote.”

In the morning, the number of old voters was better than the younger voters. That was the essence of democracy. Shivnath Bose is a cancer patient. He came to vote in a wheelchair and said, “In all these years, I have not left a vote. It is our right and everyone should vote.”

They all know the importance of this election. He is proud that his votes are going to decide the future of the Chief Minister of West Bengal. This is the second time in the last 10 years that Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has moved to her home constituency to save the chief minister’s chair.

Mamta Banerjee’s brother Karthik Banerjee said, ‘Didi has worked for 100 percent people here. Everyone will vote for him.” Although not many people were seen at the polling booth in the morning, but as the day progressed, people started coming. Political parties were seen tweeting to persuade people to vote.
