Eid 2022: New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka Mithali Express services to remain suspended

In view of Eid celebrations in the neighboring country, Mithali Express services running between New Jalpaiguri in India and Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka will remain suspended for nine days from July 6, said an NFR release on June 25. Services were suspended as requested. Bangladesh Railways said regular services will resume soon after Eid celebrations in the neighboring country are over.

The release issued by Northeast said, “Indian Railways has decided to cancel the 13132 (New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka) and 13131 (Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri) Mithali Express from July 06 to July 14, 2022, due to the celebration of Eid in Bangladesh. has decided.” Frontier Railway (NFR) said.

“Bangladesh Railway has requested Indian Railways to cancel the journey of Mithali Express in view of the festival of Eid,” the statement said.

The train service between New Jalpaiguri and Dhaka Cantonment railway stations was flagged off by the Railway Ministers of both the countries on June 1 this year. Passenger train services between India and Bangladesh resumed last month after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the release said.
