Ehsan Mani set for another three-year term as chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board

Veteran administrator Ehsan Mani set to get another three-year term as Pakistan Cricket Chairman of the Board (PCB). The confirmation came in the form of a statement from Mani in which he outlined plans for the next year and the Pakistan Super League.

There were earlier doubts whether Mani wanted to stay on for another term and also whether Prime Minister Imran Khan, who heads the PCB, would offer him an extension.

Mani was brought to the PCB in August by the prime minister, soon after his party won the general election in 2018.

But according to insiders, Mani agreed for another term during a recent meeting with Imran Khan in Islamabad.

“The Premier asks Mani to continue his good work and fulfill all the plans he has initiated to improve Pakistan cricket.”

Basically Mani’s continuation for a second term means that CEO Wasim Khan, whose term ends in February 2022, will also continue for a second term.

Wasim Khan recently said in an interview that he wants to oversee the completion of several projects in Pakistan cricket.

Mani said in his statement that Pakistan will host several top teams at home in the 2021/22 season including Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies.

Mani also clarified that the PCB was forced to complete the Pakistan Super League matches in Abu Dhabi due to the COVID situation in Pakistan, but will host the tournament entirely at home next year.

Mani also expressed confidence that by next year the COVID-19 situation would be under control and spectators would be able to participate in PSL and other international matches at home.

“PCB has always valued its fans and supporters and understands their contribution to the development of the game. Considering that we as a nation have collectively and successfully managed the COVID-19 pandemic, I am confident and optimistic that all our cricket, including New Zealand, England, West Indies and Australia, will continue in the 2021-22 season. will also be played. In front of our fans.

“Fans are the essence and spirit of any sport. Without them, no event can be a complete success. The PCB, players and all business partners recalled the presence of fans, but the remaining 20 matches were staged in Abu Dhabi at an unusual time. And was done in difficult conditions,” he said.
