ED attaches gems, financial institution deposits value over Rs 253 cr of Nirav Modi group in Hong Kong – Instances of India

NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate Friday mentioned it has connected gems, jewelry and financial institution deposits value Rs 253.62 crore of firms linked to fugitive diamond service provider Nirav Modi as a part of a cash laundering probe.
All these moveable property are in Hong Kong, the company mentioned in a press release.
Some property of Nirav Modi group of firms in Hong Kong have been recognized within the type of gems and jewelleries mendacity in personal vaults and financial institution balances in accounts maintained there and these have been provisionally connected below sections of the Prevention of Cash Laundering Act (PMLA), it mentioned.
Nirav Modi, 50, is presently lodged in a UK jail and has misplaced his extradition plea to India in reference to the USD 2-billion PNB fraud case that can be being investigated by the CBI.
