EC allows declaration of exit poll results for Himachal Assembly elections 2022 after 6.30 PM

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has given permission to publish the results of the exit polls of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022 from 6.30 pm on Monday. The Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh tweeted, “As per the notification of the Commission, the results of the exit polls of the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh can be released only after 6:30 pm on December 5, 2022.”

Earlier on November 13, the Election Commission of India had prohibited the conduct of any exit poll and publication of exit poll results from November 12 to December 5, 2022. The commission had notified the duration from 8:00 am to 5.30 pm on November 12. There will be a ban on conducting any exit polls and publishing the results during the period of 5th December.

In Himachal Pradesh, polling was held for 68 constituencies on Saturday and the counting of votes is to take place on December 8. According to an official announcement by the Election Commission, around 74.54 per cent polling was recorded in the state.

While the final election results will be announced on December 8, the exit polls are expected to give a closer picture of what the likely outcome of the keenly contested elections will be, which party or coalition will get the popular mandate for the next election. Five years in the state assemblies of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where elections were held.
