Easing Traffic Woes: Major Infrastructure Plans For Gurugram-Faridabad Road

Faridabad: Manohar Lal Khatter’s Government in Haryana is working to ensure a smooth traffic system in the districts within the NCR region. To address this goal, preparations are underway to alleviate traffic congestion on the Gurugram-Faridabad road. The Public Works Department is currently finalizing plans for constructing underpasses and flyovers at Ghata Mod, Bandhwadi, and Pali Chowk in Faridabad.

A consultant will be hired to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this initiative, and the Public Works Department in Gurugram has sought approval from Chandigarh Headquarters to issue tenders for the project. Notably, a significant number of commuters travel from Faridabad to Gurugram daily for work, leading to traffic woes during morning and evening rush hours, resulting in time wastage.

The estimated project cost, initially set at Rs 25 crore, has now been revised to Rs 35 crore due to the expanded scope. According to the Public Works Department’s plan, both flyovers and underpasses are proposed at Ghata Mod. Additionally, there is consideration for constructing underpasses or flyovers as required from Sikandarpur Chowk to the Gurugram turn in Faridabad. Moreover, provisions for vehicle underpasses at DLF Golf Course turn are also being contemplated to address traffic backups at these signal points.

Furthermore, comprehensive arrangements are in place to make the 8 km road from Ghata village on the Faridabad Road to Vatika Chowk on Badshahpur Road signal-free. Notably, the construction of an underpass at Vatika Chowk has already been completed, bringing relief to drivers travelling from Faridabad to Khedki Daula Toll Plaza on NH-48. However, traffic congestion persists due to the absence of flyovers at several locations on the Gurugram-Faridabad road. The construction of flyovers and underpasses at these sites aims to alleviate the traffic woes experienced by commuters.
