Dutch PM says Crown Princess can keep her crown in same-sex marriage

Prime Minister Mark Root said on Tuesday that the Dutch Crown Princess can marry anyone without giving up her right to the throne.

Crown Princess Katharina-Amalia, 17, is the heiress of King Willem-Alexander.

Rutte was answering questions from parliament about whether Dutch law could someday prevent him from ascending the throne if he marries a woman. Gay marriage has been legal in the Netherlands since 2001.
