Dumka: Another Soren Comes From JMM To Face Sita Soren

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced Nalin Soren as its nominee for the Dumka constituency, putting an end to conjecture about party leader Hemant Soren running against his sister-in-law and BJP candidate Sita Soren. On Thursday, the ruling party in Jharkhand declared its candidates for two parliamentary seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Nalin Soren has been selected for Dumka, while Mathura Mahto has been chosen for Giridih.

Previously, there were rumors circulating that Hemant Soren, the former Chief Minister who was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in January this year regarding a money laundering case, might run against his sister-in-law, Sita Soren.

Sita Soren, the wife of the late JMM leader Durga Soren, officially joined the BJP on March 19. The party granted her a ticket to contest from Dumka. Sources indicate that party supremo Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren have explicitly instructed that no “parachute candidate” will be nominated for the Lok Sabha polls.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the JMM will participate in an alliance with the Congress and other parties. According to the seat-sharing arrangement, the JMM will contest five seats, while the Congress will field candidates on seven seats out of the total 14 in Jharkhand.

The remaining two seats will be allocated to their allies, namely the Samajwadi Party and the Left parties. Jharkhand is scheduled to vote in four phases for the Lok Sabha election: May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
