Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana suggested that the Congress high command should look into the reasons for Balasaheb Thorat’s dissidence and said that Patole’s sudden resignation from the post of president had cost the MVA government dearly.
The ongoing infighting within the Congress has created political turmoil in Maharashtra and now the Shiv Sena (UBT) has jumped into the fray. Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ hit out at Congress state chief Nana Patole, saying his “immature” move of suddenly resigning from the post of speaker in the state assembly had cost the MVA government dearly, putting it in jeopardy. “The most important reason for the fall of the MVA government was the sudden resignation given by Patole. The resignation given by Patole was a wrong decision. And since then the series of troubles started for the government. They didn’t end after that. The post of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly is important and decisive for a coalition government. If Patole had remained the president, further complications could have been avoided. It would have been easier to disqualify those who quit the party,” the mouthpiece said.
“Congress has got a boost in many states after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo. But what is happening in Maharashtra is opposite to what is happening in other states. This can only harm the Congress. The Patole-Thorat fight should not escalate any further. BJP should not take advantage of this,” Saamana said in its editorial.
Saamana further said that the party high command needs to think why Balasaheb Thorat lost his patience. The senior party leader had complained to the high command about his alleged disrespect by Patole.
Explaining the reasons behind the humiliation felt by Thorat, Saamna supports him by saying that his job during the MVA was to keep everyone together. It also asked what Patole would get by targeting dynasty politics about a family working hard for the development of the Congress.
