Drunk Passenger Refuses To Pay Alcohol Bill, Creates Ruckus At Kolkata Airport

There was chaos at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on Friday night when an inebriated passenger created a ruckus. The passenger, Pratul Ghosh, was first detained by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed for airport security and later handed over to the local Kolkata airport police station. It is learned that on Friday night Ghosh had to take an Indigo flight to Mumbai, she reached Kolkata airport.

On arrival, much before the commencement of the boarding process, he went to a bar inside the airport premises and consumed alcohol. However, trouble started when bar officials presented a bill of Rs 3,750 against the alcoholic beverages consumed by Ghosh. He tried to run away from the bar without paying the bill.

On being stopped by the bar staff, he refused to give the money and started fighting with the staff. He allegedly misbehaved with the staff, which prevented him from running away without paying the bill.

Soon the CISF personnel deputed for airport security arrived and initially tried to reach an amicable solution by trying to persuade Ghosh to pay the amount of the bill. However, he refused to do so and gave strange reasons for non-payment of bills.

Apart from claiming that he neither had any cash or credit card to pay the bill, Ghosh also claimed that he had lost the contact numbers of all his family members and friends who would pay the bill for him. Could have done

Thereafter, CISF personnel first took him into custody and then handed him over to the local police. This is the second time during the current week that the Kolkata airport has come under the spotlight due to nuisance caused by drunken passengers.
