Guwahati: With Lend Help During Tough Times Cyclone Amphan Majuli, Asia’s largest river island in Upper Assam, to help officials plan to reduce erosion through technology at IIT Guwahati start-up drone I will fly high Republic day Incident in North Guwahati on Wednesday.
drone developed by IIT Guwahati In a statement on Tuesday, the institute said that the Drone Tech Lab will hold a drone show at the R-Day event in Kamrup, which will be the first of its kind in the Northeast.
Laboratory developed drones are successfully providing solutions in multiple domains – disaster management, agriculture, surveying and mapping. They have been technologically and creatively at the forefront of promoting disaster management due to Cyclone Amphan by offering drone technology to assist frontline workers.
Over the years, these drones have been instrumental in tackling some of the main challenges in eastern India. Majuli, which had a surface area of 880 sq km at the beginning of the 20th century, has been reduced to 553 sq km today due to continued erosion by the aggressive Brahmaputra river. For the Drone Tech Lab, the opportunity came to develop a solution to monitor and analyze the rate of erosion and the means to plan a sustainable solution to control it.
Director, IIT Guwahati Prof. TG Sitaram, said that the drone show at the R-Day event will help publicize this technology for the benefit of the public. “Since the Opening” UAV Center At IIT Guwahati, there are many projects where the help of drones has been sought for rapid data collection, be it land surveying, river mapping, agriculture or health care and disaster management,” Sitaram said.
