The incident had created panic across the region, reminding people of the horrific Delhi 2012 gang rape case that shook the entire nation.

A case of gang-rape with a minor has come to light from Bettiah town of Champaran district of Bihar on Wednesday. Two of the three accused – a bus driver, conductor and his accomplice – have been arrested by the police. The driver is absconding.

The victim, in her statement to the police, has said that her accomplice persuaded her to board the bus to drop her off Patna. As soon as he boarded the bus, the driver took the bypass road with the intention of committing the crime.

She was then given an intoxicating drink, after which she fainted and was gang-raped by three men, the survivor said. After this the accused locked him in the bus and fled from the spot.

When she regained consciousness, she started knocking on the door of the bus from inside and people passing by opened the door and informed the police, who took her out safely and started investigation.

At present, he has been sent for medical examination and the police have confirmed that he is a minor.
