Kohli was rested for the South Africa series after IPL 2022 and will return to the T20I squad from the second match against England.

Jaffer feels Kohli will get a chance to play a few matches before the selectors decide on his future in the T20 side. However, he feels that Deepak Hooda is a good option in the middle order for Team India as he also gives an added advantage with the ball.

Kohli plays, no doubt about it but his form will be taken into account. His IPL strike rate has not been good. He is not in the best form. The former opener further said that it will be a big decision but he feels that Kohli will get a chance to prove himself in the England series.

He said, ‘I will not sit here and say ‘leave Kohli’. I wish I was on the England side. It is a big decision to make. India has many good players coming out of their system but Kohli has to come. What they say, form is temporary, class is permanent.’
