BJP claims Jaganand Singh made controversial remarks targeting Hindus during earlier PFI ban

With the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya going on in full swing, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Jaganand Singh on Friday stoked a controversy as he claimed that the place of worship was being built on a “land of hatred”.

“Ram cannot be confined in a luxurious palace… We are people who believe in ‘Hey Ram’ and not ‘Jai Shri Ram’,” the leader was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

BJP leader Shahzad Poonawalla wrote on Twitter, “Abusing Hindu faith = Secularism for RJD-Congress?”

He also claimed that Jaganand Singh had made controversial comments targeting Hindus earlier also during the PFI ban. In July, the RJD leader compared the radical organization Popular Front of India For Rashtriya Swayamsevak, calling for strong opposition to BJP.

“Whenever dangerous people are arrested by the security forces for being Pakistani agents, they are all found to belong to the RSS and the Hindu community,” a Hindustan Times The report quoted Singh as saying.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Thursday that the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be ready by January 1 next year.

Shah said that the Congress and the CPI(M) kept the Ram temple issue under the jurisdiction of the court for a long time, while the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Its foundation stone was laid after the order of the Supreme Court.
