New York:

Ivana Trump – Donald Trump’s first wife and mother of his three eldest children – has died at the age of 73, the former president announced Thursday.

Ivana Trump “died at her home in New York City,” wrote Donald Trump on his social media platform Truth Social, without specifying the cause of death.

Donald Trump, 76, said, “She was a wonderful, beautiful and wonderful woman who led a great and inspirational life.”

“His pride and joy were his three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric. He was very proud of them, because we were all so proud of them. Rest in peace, Ivana!” He added to the post.

Ivana Trump, a model who grew up under communist rule in former Czechoslovakia, married Donald Trump, a budding real estate developer, in 1977.

Their first child, Donald Jr., was born later that year. Ivanka was born in 1981 and Eric in 1984.

Eric Trump posted a tribute on Instagram on Thursday to his mother, who was also an accomplished skier during her childhood in Eastern Europe.

“Our mom was an incredible woman – a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and a caring mother and friend,” Post said.

“His mother, his three children and ten grandchildren will miss him dearly,” he said.

During the ’80s, Trump was one of New York’s most high-profile couples, their extravagant lifestyle exemplifying the decade’s flashy excesses.

As Donald Trump’s property business grew to his power and celebrity, Ivana Trump played several important roles in the business.

Their high-profile split, rumored to be caused by Donald Trump’s affair with actress Marla Maples, provided juicy material for New York tabloids.

Donald Trump and Ivana Trump divorced in the early ’90s, and the future president married Maples in 1993.

Ivana Trump has enjoyed a successful business career of her own, developing clothing, jewelry and beauty products, and writing several books.

Donald Trump’s union with Maples lasted until 1999. He married third and current wife Melania Trump in 2005.
