Doctor’s suicide: Health services likely to be affected across Rajasthan on Saturday

Jaipur: Health services across Rajasthan are likely to be affected on Saturday as doctors have called for suspension of routine and emergency services.

Doctors are demanding justice for a female colleague who committed suicide in Dausa district of Rajasthan. The doctors have demanded that a case of abetment to suicide be registered against the six convicts, including three policemen.

Dr Vijay Kapur, secretary of a union representing private hospitals and nursing homes, said he has received “full support from all private hospitals and nursing homes and even associations of government hospitals”.

“Regular and emergency services in private hospitals will be completely closed on Saturday,” he said.

Dr Kapoor further said that regular services in government hospitals will remain suspended for the day, but emergency facilities will continue to operate.

In view of this, regular services in private hospitals were affected even on Friday.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has taken the doctor’s suicide seriously.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gehlot ordered the removal of Dausa Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar and the suspension of Lalsot police station in-charge Ankesh Kumar, besides giving Awaiting Posting Order (APO) status to Lalsot DSP Shankar Lal.

Jaipur Divisional Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Yadav has been entrusted with the administrative investigation of the case.

Dr Archana Sharma killed herself after a murder case was registered against her after a woman admitted to a private hospital died.

“I love my husband and children very much. Please don’t disturb my husband and kids after my death. I did not commit any mistake and did not kill anyone,” Dr Sharma said in a one-page suicide note.

“PPH (Postpartum Bleeding) is a serious complication, stop bothering doctors for this. May my death prove my innocence. Please do not disturb innocent doctors,” she added in her suicide note written in Hindi.
