Google’s new feature will allow users to book a doctor’s appointment directly from the search engine or the Google app.

Now, the company has made several announcements regarding its health initiatives including a new feature that will allow users to book appointments with their doctors directly from Google Search. The company will leverage its search data to locate and book appointments with its doctors. Google’s health and social impact team is working on a tool that will work for both users’ existing doctors and new sign-ups.

Google Ltd. has said that the rollout is currently limited and it will work with pharmaceutical and healthcare companies to build its network of supported customers. Google in its announcement focused on same-day visits, which will come in handy for people who have relocated to a new area or if you’re feeling sick and want to see a doctor on the same day.

Google also announced the next steps for Fitbit, the wearable company acquired by Google in 2019. This includes a pending approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for photoplethysmography, or PPG, that detects heart rate directly through the wrist. It is now known when the PPG algorithm will receive FDA approval.

Google also announced new research into global AI initiatives. It has partnered with Northwestern Medicine to research Google’s ultrasound technology, which could make prenatal ultrasound easier.
