DNA Exclusive: Analysis of riots in Brazil amid demand of military rule

Brazil: There is a tussle between the two ideologies regarding the transfer of power in Brazil because the one who lost the election is not ready to accept the mandate. Presidential elections were held in Brazil in October last year, the result of which came on 30 October. Former President Jair Bolsonaro was thrown out of the election, while the mandate went in favor of Lula da Silva of the Workers’ Party. Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party refused to accept the electoral defeat. Since then there has been a tussle between the two groups in Brazil. One is led by Lula da Silva and the other supports Bolsonaro. Supporters of the ousted President created a ruckus in the Presidential Palace, the Supreme Court and the Parliament House in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.

In today’s DNA, Zee News anchor Rohit Ranjan analyzes the reasons behind the protests and riots in Brazil and the demand for military rule in the country.

Bolsonaro supporters dressed in yellow and green, including the Brazilian national flag, stormed the National Congress building. Thousands of people suddenly attacked and entered the Parliament House. Angry people also vandalized police vehicles. Bolsonaro’s supporters were so numerous that the army had to be deployed to control them. However, it was not easy for the army to control the protesters. So far more than 400 protesters have been arrested.

Now once again the demand for military rule has started rising in the country. There may be a hidden ambition of former President Jair Bolsonaro behind this demand. Jair Bolsonaro comes from an army background. Bolsonaro has been a captain in the Brazilian army. On several occasions, he said that Brazil had made more progress under military rule. Therefore this demand can be a big conspiracy against democratic values.
