DNA Exclusive: Analysis of Increasing Attacks by Stray Dogs

In a tragic incident, a 4-year-old boy was mauled to death by stray dogs in Hyderabad, triggering a strong reaction from the people with some even describing the menace as ‘terror’. The CCTV video of the child being attacked by the dog has gone viral. The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation assured to take steps to prevent recurrence of such attacks. In the video clip that has gone viral, the dog is seen suddenly chasing the boy and attacking him, after which he falls down. He was walking alone. A merciless mob of vagabonds used to beat him even when no one came forward to save him.

In today’s DNA, Rohit Ranjan of Zee News analyzes the menace caused by stray dogs and the silence of animal lovers on this issue. Ranjan asked a very reasonable question – who will take the responsibility of the death of this innocent child? It is clear that no one will take responsibility and there is going to be no difference in the situation going forward. He said that the lobby of dog lovers in our country is so strong that no one dares to touch stray dogs.

The constitution of our country says that every human being and animal living in the country has the right to live. But the question is whether stray dogs have more rights or humans. If you ask this question to animal lovers, they will probably say that dogs have more rights. But when you ask them whether stray dogs are responsible for someone’s death or people supporting stray dogs, animal lovers will not utter a word.

The incident, which took place in Amberpet area on Sunday, was captured in a CCTV camera. The boy’s father, who works as a security guard at a car service centre, had taken him and his six-year-old daughter to his workplace in the area. The victim sustained serious injuries in the attack and her father and others rushed her to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead, the official said.
