DNA Exclusive: Analysis of Congress’s ’emergency mindset’

Zee News and DNA have a long and trusted relationship with their viewers. Relationship is based on trust. Zee News in its program DNA brings to you the latest developments from across the world on a daily basis. We try our best to be truthful and factual – and for this – a large team of journalists work round the clock in Zee News’ diverse newsrooms.

However, we are also human and on some, rare occasions, it is possible that we may make a mistake. There was a human error on our part on July 1. A news clip of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was shown in the wrong context. This was a human error. The very next day Zee News realized its mistake and apologized for it on national television. However, apologizing and admitting the mistake on national TV was not enough for the Congress party.

Several Congress workers filed FIRs in party-ruled Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan against Zee News journalist Rohit Ranjan to prove their loyalty to the Gandhi family. He also started trolling Rohit Ranjan on social media. While Zee News has no objection to the legal proceedings, what bothers us is the Emergency-era mentality of the Congress.

In Today’s DNA, Aditi Tyagi of Zee News analyzes the Emergency-era mindset of Congress which believes in crossing all boundaries and oppressing journalists.

To harass Rohit Ranjan, the team of Chhattisgarh Police reached his residence at 5 am. Rohit Ranjan and his family were shocked to see the police at their door. The police team arrived in plain clothes, that is, they were not wearing a police uniform. They were even objecting to showing their identity cards. And, most importantly, they reached Rohit Ranjan’s residence without informing the local police. The police also misbehaved with the family members of Rohit Ranjan and the security guards of Rohit Ranjan’s society.
In short, the police didn’t care for any of the rules in the book, and it appeared that they had “orders from above” to arrest Rohit Ranjan.

Zee News has appealed to its viewers to support its journalist and its anchor Rohit Ranjan by tweeting #ISupportRohitRanjan.
