The ruling DMK on Sunday ridiculed BJP Tamil Nadu president Annamalai, saying his scheduled statewide padayatra is an effect of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir foot march.

Pointing to Annamalai’s proposed visit from April 14, which is scheduled to start from the seaside temple town of Tiruchendur in southern Tamil Nadu, Murasoli, the Tamil mouthpiece of the ruling party, said the move shows Gandhi’s commitment to ‘Join India’. The visit has impressed the saffron party leader.

The daily said that Annamalai’s march only reminded one of the ‘Kana Mayilada’ verse. This is an old Tamil verse of the didactic ‘Moodurai’. Using figures of speech, the song underlines that there is no use copying something from someone. It emphasizes on learning things properly and completely.

Stating that Tiruchendur is popular for the annual ‘Soora Samaharam’ spiritual event, Murasoli mocked the BJP leader by asking which ‘asura’ he had destroyed. DMK daily mocks Annamalai as a conversation between two women.
