CHENNAI: More than two lakh people have left Chennai in the government buses To your native places to celebrate Diwali.
According to an official release on Tuesday, the state transport department has operated around 4,785 buses in the last 48 hours to transport these people.
Another 3,500 buses will leave for different parts of the state from Chennai on Wednesday. So far this Diwali season, 1.05 lakh people have booked their bus tickets, the release said.
State-owned transport corporations have earned Rs 5.4 crore through reservation.
A total of 12 booking counters have been set up at various locations in the city.
