Dinesh Karthik’s tweet proud of Team India’s fight against England

Dinesh Karthik took to Twitter to applaud India’s win against England in the T20I series. The Men in Blue won the first two matches to win the three-match series 2–1. Jos Buttler and his team managed to defeat India To clinch a consolation win in the final T20I and prevent a clean sweep.

Karthik shared a picture on Twitter in which he can be seen lifting the T20I series trophy along with the rest of the Indian team. “Today 2 great wins and a great fight. So proud of the way each of us fought for this series win,” the caption read.

After securing the series, India made several changes for the third match to test their bench strength. Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal have been rested, while Shreyas Iyer, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik and Ravi Bishnoi have been named.

However, the plan reversed as England batsmen destroyed the Indian bowling attack. Umran scored 56 runs in his four overs, while Ravindra Jadeja and Avesh Khan conceded 45 and 43 runs respectively. England posted a mammoth total of 215 runs on the board thanks to superb hitting from batsmen David Malan (77 off 39 balls) and Liam Livingstone (42* off 29 balls).

In response, India’s top order failed once again. Captain Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli With no significant effect retreated into the dugout.

Suryakumar Yadav chased down the Indian target by scoring a brilliant century under pressure. His innings of 117 off just 55 balls went in vain as India fell again in the closing leg of the match. The Indian innings ended on 198/9 and fell short by 17 runs to complete a clean sweep of the series.

Ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged the man of the series for his exemplary bowling performance. He took 4 wickets in the two T20I matches he played while maintaining an economy rate of just 4.15.

The action now shifts to the 50-over format as India take on England for a three-match ODI series that begins on Tuesday, July 12 at The Oval.
