In 2017, Digvijay Singh had resigned from the post of Congress General Secretary after the Congress could not form the government while in charge of Goa. Political career of Digvijay Singh
Raja Digvijay Singh of Raghogarh princely state of Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh made his formal entry in politics in the year 1969. Then after winning the election of Raghogarh Municipality, he became its president. Diggi became an MLA for the first time in 1977 on a Congress ticket. In 1980, Digvijay Singh became a cabinet minister in Arjun Singh’s government. In 1984, Diggi reached the Lok Sabha by winning the Rajgarh seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
Digvijay Singh was made the Chief Minister after the Congress returned to power in Madhya Pradesh in 1993. After the crushing defeat in 2003, Digvijay Singh had announced not to take any government post for 10 years. Congress had made Digvijay Singh the national general secretary in the party in 2008, at which he remained in the post till 2017.
