MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan says the state government is ramping up health infrastructure and working to eliminate vaccine shortages to fight a possible third wave.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday said he could not sleep for seven nights after the state faced a severe shortage of oxygen during the peak of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I have no hesitation to state today that when the state faced a shortage of oxygen, I had not slept for seven nights,” he said at an event.

Chouhan said, “The news came that in such a hospital, oxygen would run out in 30 minutes. We worked hard to provide oxygen. I used to talk to the driver of the oxygen tanker to see where he has reached.”

Stating that the state government is improving health infrastructure and working to end the vaccine shortage to fight a possible third wave, he said people should understand that the pandemic is not over.

He said that around 80,000 people are being tested daily in the state.

Chouhan also said that the authorities should keep a watch on the movement of people from neighboring Maharashtra, where a relatively large number of cases are being reported.
