The film was shot in reverse to keep up with Ranbir’s hairstyle. Hence, the climax featuring long hair was filmed first. He practised playing the guitar at AR Rahman’s studio in Chennai, studied Kurt Cobain’s biography and familiarised himself with Jats for the film’s intense character.

In 2007, Ranbir Kapoor made his acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, which, unfortunately, didn’t do well at the box office.
