Not Amitabh Bachchan but Dilip Kumar was BR Chopra’s first choice for Baghban.

Holi celebrations have started in many parts of India. In almost all households, the festival of colors is celebrated with great enthusiasm, love, laughter, vibrant gulal and of course Holi-special songs. Bollywood Movies playing in the background. one just can’t miss Amitabh Bachchan And Hema Malini’s Hori Khele Raghuveera track when it comes to evergreen songs for this festival. It is from his 2003 film Baghban, which also starred Salman Khan, Aman Verma, Paresh Rawal, Rimi Sen, Divya Dutta and Mahima Chaudhary. Hori Khele Raghuveera, one of the highlights of the Ravi Chopra directorial, is a song that has made a permanent place on every Holi playlist for the last 20 years. However, the credit for making Baghban a special film cannot be given to this track alone.
There are many little-known facts about Baghban that set it apart from other Amitabh Bachchan films.
1- Ravi Chopra, who was busy with several TV series after his 1992 film Kal Ki Awaaz, returned to the big screen with Baghban. His father and noted filmmaker BR Chopra was supposed to direct it, but he was not well, so he asked Ravi to step in and make the film.
2- Baghban also marked a rising point in Amitabh Bachchan’s career as he had not been able to deliver box office hits for quite some time. Baghban changed the landscape for him and was loved by critics and cinephiles.
3- Not Amitabh Bachchan but Dilip Kumar was BR Chopra’s first choice for Baghban. The late filmmaker had conceptualized the story in the 1970s. When he discussed the script with Dilip Kumar, he liked it but could not say yes as he was about to start another film. And BR Chopra was also “busy with other films” at the time, his son Ravi had earlier revealed in an interview. Years later, the filmmaker and his son decided that “Baghban should be our comeback film.”
4- Baghban saw Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini once again on the big screen after 20 years. Before the 2003 film, she last co-starred in Nastik, which was directed by Pramod Chakraborty.
5- Amitabh Bachchan lent his voice for four tracks in Baghban – Main Yahan Tu Wahan, Chali Chali Phir, O Dharti Tarse Ambar Barse and Hori Khele Raghuveera.
Baghban is still considered one of the evergreen films made in Bollywood.
