Did not vote against Russia! ‘Small’ Lithuania will not vaccinate Bangladesh

Bangladesh refrained from voting on a UN resolution against Russia. Lithuania, a small European country, rescinded its decision to send a coronavirus vaccine to Bangladesh as a ‘punishment’. This was stated in the report of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT).

According to the report, a spokesman for the Lithuanian prime minister said Bangladesh had refrained from voting at the UN General Assembly on a resolution against Russia condemning Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine. Therefore, the decision to send the corona vaccine to Bangladesh is being canceled. Two weeks ago, Lithuania decided to send 440,600 doses of Pfizer vaccine to Bangladesh.

Last week a resolution against Russia was tabled at the United Nations General Assembly. Of the 193 member states, 141 voted in favor of the resolution. Thirty-five countries including India, Bangladesh and China did not participate. The Bangladesh delegation proposed to resolve the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. However, Lithuania was not satisfied. Bangladesh is on the path of ‘punishment’. Of course, this will not be a problem for Bangladesh.
