Akshay Kumar He is all set for the release of his upcoming film OMG 2. He will be seen playing the role of Lord Shiva in the film. In the first installment of the franchise OMG – Oh My God, released in 2012, he played the role of Lord Krishna. In an interview to a portal, the actor revealed that the role of Lord Krishna was one of the most challenging roles he has played so far. But did you know that the actor was so deeply engrossed in the role of Lord Krishna that he gave up non-veg food while shooting for the film?

The reason for his doing so was not divinity, but his mother, who was a staunch follower of Lord Krishna and requested the actor to give up meat. He said that they should follow the principles of Lord Krishna which included vegetarian food. Akshay Kumar’s mother Aruna Bhatia usually stays away from the limelight and her professional concerns, but when the actor told her about the film, she couldn’t stop herself from making a request to him. And, being the loving son that he is, Akshay accepts her request and follows through with the same.

The teaser of the second installment of the franchise was released today. Unlike the first chapter, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the role of Lord Shiva in this one. The film will also star Pankaj Tripathi, Arun Govil and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. In the film, Pankaj is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva while Yami plays the role of a lawyer.

director Amit Rai’s film will be released in theaters on August 11. It will clash with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer Gadar 2: The Katha Continues at the box office.
