The decline is attributed to the increase in administering the second dose of vaccines and also the preventive (booster) dose.
The district has registered 104 per cent vaccination of first dose, covering 17.99 lakh persons against the target of 14 lakh. As many as 16,00,223 have received the second dose, which is 95% of the target. The booster dose has been administered on 45,855 people.

“During the first wave every day, 3300 infected persons used to be admitted to the hospitals. Now this number of has come down drastically. since the Omron affected only the upper part of the respiratory system, people did not require hospitalisation,” said RCHO Dr SM Honakeri.
“Most of the infected were in home isolation and the district administration and Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation arranged for door delivery of medicines to them. Awareness among the people about the Covid appropriate behavior also added to the dip in positive cases,” Honakeri added.
