Surat: Acting on a tip off, a team from Special Operation Group raided an electronic goods shop in Athwalines area and seized prohibited e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco worth Rs 1.25 lakh on Friday. Cops also seized two mobile phones worth Rs 1.75 lakh from the 30-year-old shop owner who has been detained. Police registered an offense under different sections of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act 2019.
According to the police, a team led by RS Suverapolice inspector, SOGwas patrolling near Athwalines when they received an information about a shop in the area selling prohibited e-cigarettes.
On basis of the tip off, the team raided MS Collection near Bhaga Talav and confiscated 194 boxes of e-cigarettes and 200 bottles (15 ML each) of flavored tobacco all valued at Rs 1.75 lakh. Cops also detained shop owner Mohammad Shabir Ravani (30), a resident of New Jamiya Building near Bhaga Talav fire station and handed him over to the Athwalines police station for further proceeding. tnn
