CIKS will focus on preserving, documenting and maintaining knowledge that is unique to India. Top priorities include Indian classical music, yoga, Sanskrit, traditional medicines, temple architecture, ceramic tradition and special agricultural practices of Northeast India, herbal plant health food of the Northeast and metal works of Assam. Scholars from diverse backgrounds will be encouraged to participate in the new CIKS’s interdisciplinary research and education programs, enabling them to develop practices and technologies in various fields for sustainable growth and development.
Disang Hostel was inaugurated by adding another 1,100 rooms to the existing facility at IIT Guwahati, while Dikhow The hostel is the first hostel on the campus exclusively for the accommodation of project staff. Built at a total cost of Rs 132 crore, these hostels will further help in augmenting the capacity of IIT Guwahati.
Pradhan congratulated IIT Guwahati for achieving excellent ranking in various international and national ranking systems and appreciated the efforts of the institute to create an ecosystem for research and education as well as focus on the holistic development of the North East region.
