Narasimhanand is the controversial priest of Dasna temple in Ghaziabad, who organized the ‘Dharma Sansad’ event in Haridwar from December 17-19, 2021.

According to PTI, Narasimhanand was picked up from the same place where he was sitting on a dharna to protest against the recent arrest of another accused in the case, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi.

Jitendra Tyagi, formerly known as Wasim Rizvi, changed his name after converting to Hinduism. He headed the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board before converting to Hinduism

On January 13, Jitendra Tyagi became the first person to be arrested in this case.

The police official said further action would depend on how the investigation progresses.

Both Jitendra Tyagi and Narasimhanand are accused in the FIR registered in connection with this incident.

The ‘Dharma Sansad’ conference, where hate speeches were allegedly delivered, was organized between December 17 and 19, 2021 by Yeti Narasimhanand in Haridwar and ‘Hindu Yuva Vahini’ in Delhi.

On January 12, the Supreme Court issued notices to the Uttarakhand and Delhi Police on a petition seeking an independent inquiry into the speeches of ‘Dharma Sansad’, news agency ANI reported.

The petition noted that the alleged hate speeches included open calls for genocide of Muslims to achieve ethnic cleansing.

“It is pertinent to note that the said speeches are not just hate speech but an open call for the killing of an entire community. Thus the said speeches not only pose a grave threat to the unity and integrity of our country, but also endanger the lives of millions of Muslim citizens.
