Dhanush and Aishwarya have announced their separation. The two issued a similar statement on social media confirming that they are separating. While they chose not to delve into the reason behind their split, Dhanush and Aishwarya said that they ‘need to take time to understand (them) as individuals for the better’.
Their statement read: “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, parents and as each other’s well wishers. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjustment and adaptation. Today we stand at a place where our paths diverge. (Aishwarya and Dhanush) have decided to part ways as a couple and take time out to understand us as individuals for the better.”
The news has shocked fans, especially since it comes less than three months after Aishwarya dedicated a post to Dhanush on Instagram. In October, Dhanush and Aishwarya’s father Rajinikanth came together to attend the prestigious National Awards ceremony in New Delhi. While Rajinikanth was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Dhanush won the National Film Award in the Best Actor category for his performance in Asuran.
On October 25, Aishwarya took to Instagram to share a picture of the two and express her happiness. He captioned the picture as, “They are mine… and this is history. Media platform for posts revolving around her work, which didn’t see any posts from Aishwarya.
Dhanush and Aishwarya married in 2004. They welcomed their first son Yatra in 2006 and four years later, in 2010, they had their second son, Ling. They also collaborated on the work front, with Aishwarya directing the film 3, starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan, and the black comedy Vai Raja Vai. Meanwhile, Dhanush was last seen in Atrangi Re, which released in December 2021.
