Agarwal also told the court that autorickshaw driver Lakhan Sharma is a habitual offender and has already stolen mobiles. “He is changing his statement and the CBI is doing everything to get to the depth of the case,” the official said.
Judge Uttam Anand was on a morning walk near Randhir Verma Chowk, a posh area of ​​Dhanbad, at 5 am on July 28 when he was hit by an autorickshaw. The CCTV footage showed a motorcyclist going behind an autorickshaw and saw the injured judge on the ground, but fled without help. Anand lay on the road unattended and was later taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police had initially assured a speedy investigation with the DGP along with Dhanbad SSP. However, the government later recommended a CBI inquiry.
CBI took up the matter on 4th August and is trying to connect the points but till now no major success has been achieved. The High Court is also monitoring the CBI investigation. The agency has submitted a sealed report of the stages of investigation conducted so far in the case to the court.
