DGCA seeks report from UAE authorities on close shave of two Emirates flights to India in Dubai – Times of India

New Delhi: To avoid a collision at the Dubai airport with two India-bound flights of the Emirates last week, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday sought a report from the UAE authorities on the incident.
On 9 January, a Bengaluru-bound Boeing 777 entered the runway, on which another B777 accelerated to take off for Hyderabad.
Fortunately, the latter made a high speed dismissal in time to avoid colliding with the other Emirates B777 on the runway.
Since both the aircraft are UAE-registered and the incident also took place in Dubai, the country’s aviation authority will conduct an investigation in accordance with the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
A senior DGCA official said, “However, we have asked them to share the investigation report as and when it is available.
Regarding the close shave, an Emirates spokesperson said: “On 9 January, flight EK-524 was instructed by air traffic control to abort take-off upon departure from Dubai and it completed successfully. There was no aircraft damage, and no casualties. Safety is always our top priority, and like any incident we are conducting our own internal review. The incident is also being investigated by the UAE AAIS (Air Accident Investigation Area) and we are unable to comment further.
