The former all-rounder compared Devon Conway to former Australia batsman Hussey, who was a vital cog in the CSK setup for many years and helped the Yellow Brigade win the IPL in 2010 and 2011.

Veteran Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has heaped praise on Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway and compared his batting style with that of Australian batsman Michael Hussey, who also played for the Yellow Army in the past. Conway displayed his class in the high-octane clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The southpaw played a brilliant knock of 83 off 45 balls to help CSK post a mammoth total.

Chennai signed Conway last season to replace Faf du Plessis at the top of the batting order and the New Zealand opener forms a formidable partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The CSK bowlers then held their nerves and played blistering knocks from Glenn Maxwell (76 off 36) and Faf du Plessis (62 off 33) to seal an 8-run win in another thriller on Monday night.

After the game, former India all-rounder Irfan compared Conway to former Australia batsman Hussey, who was a vital cog in the CSK setup for many years and helped the Yellow Brigade win the IPL in 2010 and 2011. Hussey is now the batting coach of CSK.

“Devon Conway’s batting style is very similar to Michael Hussey. Once he starts scoring runs, there is no stopping. His specialty was that as soon as Faf du Plessis changed fielding position, Conway took advantage and played shots in the gap,” Irfan told Star Sports. Cricket Live.

The high-adrenaline encounter between RCB and CSK also showcased the calming effect of MS Dhoni, which helped prevent jarring moments on the pitch in the subsequent slog overs.

Legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar lauded Dhoni’s calm and composed demeanor and said that with him as the captain, the players do not feel much pressure.

“When players don’t feel much pressure M S Dhoni leading the party. He is totally cool and it helps. He lives in the moment and never drifts. Yes, he stares at them when they drop catches or leave the field but he never puts them under pressure. That is why CSK faces crisis situations more and more,” Gavaskar said.
