Amid rumours of quitting television to focus full time on Bollywood after her debut in Bengal 1947, Devoleena Bhattacharjee clarified that she will work in both mediums.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee rose to fame as Gopi Bahu in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya after replacing Giaa Manek. The actress also impressed her fans with appearances in various television serials and reality shows like Bigg Boss. Recently, the actress entered Bollywood and is ready to make her mark in her debut film Bengal 1947: An Untold Love. The movie is a blend of period drama with romance during the era of partition. Amid rumours of quitting television to focus full time on Bollywood, Devoleena clarified that she’ll continue working in both mediums. She believes in exploring opportunities across television, film and the web. During the same conversation, the Dil Diyaan Gallan star also spoke about the differences between television and Bollywood and her experience in both the mediums.

Dismissing the rumours that she’ll quit TV after her Bollywood debut, Devoleena said, “I don’t believe in any such concept that if I’m doing TV, I’ll have to quit it completely to start a career in films or if I’m in films I won’t be doing TV again. As an actor, my work is to act, no matter what the medium is. If the concept and the opportunities come along the offer excites me I will be on for it. I’m happy that I’m getting the opportunity to make a debut on the big screen. And I wish to grow and enjoy the same success that I was blessed with while working on TV.”

The actress further compares TV to a school, as it has provided her with valuable lessons and opportunities for growth. She feels grateful for everything TV has provided her. Working in television has taught her to work hard without worrying about the results. When she started her TV career, she didn’t expect anything. She simply enjoyed her work and was fully dedicated to it. Similarly, she has no expectations from films now. She’s just enjoying the process.

Talking about contrast between television and movies, Devoleena Bhattacharjee highlights that TV typically favours a sweet, innocent character like a daughter-in-law. On the other hand, films often require a glamorous and bold personality. She explains that once audiences see an artist’s glamorous side in movies or web series, they may find it difficult to accept them in mainstream daily soaps. Although Devoleena feels it is a challenge, if the artist is lucky enough, opportunities will come.

Bengal 1947: An Untold Love also stars Sohaila Kapur, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Aditya Lakhia, Anil Rastogi, Pramod Pawar, Ankur Armam, Surabhi Srivastava, Falaq Rahi, Vikram TDR and Atul Gangwar.
