Holding a review meeting with the core team of the government’s flagship programme, Sisodia said their aim was to inculcate a sense of patriotism among the students.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday said the patriotic curriculum is helping students develop the right attitude towards the happenings around them and aims to teach them to raise their voice against any injustice meted out to people.

Holding a review meeting with the core team of the flagship program of the government, Sisodia said that their aim is to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the students.

“The purpose of the patriotic curriculum is to teach children to raise their voice against any wrong and injustice with the people around them. Students should feel that as an Indian it is their responsibility to fulfill the needs of the society.

The education department plans to include a new teacher’s manual for the curriculum for classes 6 to 12, train teachers involved, and orient school heads. According to Delhi government, training of more than 10,000 teachers will be conducted soon and capacity building of core team and master trainers will be done.

“There are also plans to create a data collection and monitoring system for better implementation of curriculum and impact studies,” said an official statement. According to the Delhi government, more than 18 lakh children from nursery to class 12 have become part of the patriotic curriculum in all government schools. More than 2000 teachers have been trained for the course and 36,000 teachers have been nominated by the education department for the course.
