Descendants of Surya actor Nam Moon Chul dies of colon cancer at the age of 50

Popular K-drama actor Naam Moon Chul passed away on Monday morning.

Popular South Korean actor Nam Moon Chul passed away on the morning of 4 October. He starred in shows such as The Royal Gambler, Descendants of the Sun, Argonne and Six Flying Dragons.

Veteran actor Nam Moon Chul, who starred in the popular K-drama Descendants of the Sun, has died at the age of 50 (Korean era). His agency released an official statement on Monday, saying that he died of a chronic illness on October 4, 2021 at 6:20 am.

“The actor passed away at the age of 50 after being diagnosed with colon cancer and battling the disease. His mortuary is located in Room 10 of the funeral room of the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital. The procession will take place on October 6 (Wednesday) at 6:30 am,” his agency management BK said in a statement.

Nam Moon Chul was originally a theater actor, and he appeared in dozens of projects including The Royal Gambler, Descendants of the Sun, Argonne and Six Flying Dragons. His career in film started with the 2002 film Break Out. He has since appeared in nearly 40 films, including new titles such as Midnight Runner, Ashfall and Joe Pil-Ho: The Dawning Rage.

He played mostly supporting roles in Korean films and dramas, and one of his most notable roles was as a manager in the 2016 hit drama Descendants of the Sun. His latest work was in this year’s drama Mad for an Other.
