Ranchi: The Deep depression which caused widespread rainfall in Jharkhand The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi said that it weakened into a well-marked low pressure area on Wednesday and the rain activity will reduce significantly in the next 24 hours, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers on Thursday. It will rain at some places.
Abhishek Anand, Acting Director, India Meteorological Department, Ranchi said, “The deep pressure has moved west-northwestwards over North Madhya Pradesh. The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through the center of Amreli, Baroda, Shajapur and well marked low pressure area which now lies over North Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood.
The deep depression caused heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the state, reducing the negative departure of rainfall during monsoon to a great extent.
The rainfall deficit till Tuesday was around 8%, but during the last 24 hours, it changed to 4% as the state received 909.8 mm, the seasonal normal of 952.2 mm. Kuru block of Lohardaga received 128.4 mm of rain, followed by Mandar block of Ranchi which received 126.2 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours and fell in the category of ‘very heavy rainfall’.
Other stations which received heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours are Arki Block in Khunti (115 mm), Lohardaga (105.6 mm), Latehar (105 mm), Ramgarh Block (104.8 mm), Hunterganj in Chatra (84.8 mm) Hazaribagh. (80 mm) included. , Balumath (76.4 mm) in Palamu, Kurdeg block (73.6 mm) in Simdega and Chaibasa (70.6 mm) in West Singhbhum.
