A driver with a Vault food delivery service says he was recently attacked by guards at the prime minister’s office in Jerusalem, breaking his ribs and several fingers, Channel 12 reported on Wednesday.
The incident happened last week, when the driver, who could not be identified, was delivering food to a worker in the PMO. He told the network that an argument developed during the security check and that the guards assaulted him.
“A guard started attacking me, [with] punched and kicked in the face,” said the man, breaking his ribs and fractured fingers.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the man had committed a violent act and was subdued with appropriate force. It said that the guard had also lodged a complaint with the police.
Police said that they are probing the incident.
Channel 12 said the PMO rejected its request for security footage of the incident, citing a police investigation.
A lawyer representing the delivery man said they would also request the footage and were planning a civil case against the PMO.
