If you’re trying to lose weight but hate doing so, you don’t need to give up those mouth-watering rice cereals. All you have to do is change your recipes to make them more healthy and weight loss friendly. Typical white rice is less nutrient-dense than the increasingly popular brown rice, which is higher in fiber. So here are some recipes loaded with nutritious brown rice that you can enjoy eating. But, remember, brown rice alone cannot do wonders so do your part and of course exercise is also necessary for best results of weight loss.

Veg Protein Pulao

Component:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin and red chili powder
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 black pepper
  • 1 small cardamom and finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves
  • ½ tsp finely chopped green chilies
  • ½ teaspoon Kasoori fenugreek
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped ginger, chopped garlic,
  • Half teaspoon turmeric and salt as per taste
  • 2 cups chopped cauliflower, carrots, beans and peas
  • 100 grams sprouts

Process

Heat oil in a pan and then add cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper and cloves. Add chopped onions, ginger, garlic and green chillies and fry them. Add beans, peas, sprouts and carrots. Add salt, red chili powder and turmeric powder. Stir well and cover it with a lid for a few minutes. Keep the flame low. Add cooked rice and kasoori methi to garnish. Serve it hot.

Brown Rice Khichdi

Component:

  • 1/2 cup brown rice
  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp ginger-chilli paste
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • Half teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3 cloves
  • finely chopped coriander leaves

Process

Mix moong dal and brown rice after soaking them in water for 30 minutes. Put ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. After roasting cumin, add asafoetida and ginger-chilli paste. After stirring for a while, add onions. Fry for one minute. After this mix all the spices. After this add brown rice-moong dal mixture. Pour some water. Add salt, then continue cooking. Cover the lid of the pressure cooker and wait for two whistles. Serve hot garnished with some coriander leaves.

fried rice

2 cups cooked brown rice, 1/2 tbsp oil and finely chopped green chillies, 1/4 cup chopped capsicum, 3/4 cup thinly sliced ​​carrots, 1 tbsp finely chopped celery, 1/2 tbsp soy sauce, beans and sprouts.

Process

In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil and add the green chilies, capsicum, and spring onion whites. Fry for one to two minutes. Add celery, carrot, bean sprouts and French beans. Stir well and cook on a high flame for one to two minutes. Add salt, soya sauce, spring onions and cooked brown rice. Stir well in a medium flame for 2 minutes. serve hot.
