In a gruesome incident in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area, a Delhi woman allegedly beat her 86-year-old mother-in-law to death with a frying pan. This incident took place on 28 April. Police suspect that the accused might have become frustrated with taking care of an elderly woman suffering from arthritis.

according to a PTI According to the report, on April 28, a person informed the police that his friend’s mother had fallen in her flat and had sustained injuries. Police reached the spot and found 86-year-old Hasi Som lying in the kitchen, bleeding profusely from multiple injuries on his face and skull.

Hasi Som’s son Surjit, 51, said his mother was suffering from arthritis for a long time and had difficulty in walking. Surjeet Som, along with his 48-year-old wife Sharmistha Som and their 16-year-old daughter Hasi Som, have been living at Swastik Residency in Neb Sarai since 2014. Delhi and rented a flat for her in front of him.

Police found a CCTV camera in the bedroom and seized it. However, there was no storage device in the camera. Surjeet told the police that he used to monitor his mother’s daily routine through live feed from the camera on his phone and the camera was not working on the day of the incident as there was a power cut.

There was no foul play suspected in Hsee Som’s death until the post-mortem of the body was conducted at the AIIMS mortuary on 29 April. After postmortem the doctor said that such injuries are not consistent with normal fall and detailed examination. must be held, news agency PTI Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chandan Chowdhary said. Police said that according to the postmortem report, 14 injury marks were found all over the body.

Surjit and his daughter confirmed that the relationship between Sarmishta and Hasi Som was not good. Only Sarmishtha was present in the flat on the day of the incident. The DCP said Surjeet later confessed that he had taken out the memory card of the CCTV camera before calling the police.

The CCTV footage revealed that at around 10:30 am on April 28, Sarmishta barged into her mother-in-law’s flat with a frying pan and hit her several times. Chaudhary said that in the CCTV recording, the voice of the elderly woman could be heard crying.

Based on the material of interrogation, Surjeet’s testimony, CCTV footage and post mortem report, a case was registered under section 302 of IPC and Sarmishta was arrested.
