Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Isha Pandey said, “A PCR call was received regarding suicide by a woman in Jaitpur on July 5. The police team reached the spot where a woman was found hanging in a room. He was immediately taken to AIIMS where the doctor declared him brought dead. “The excreta used for hanging and the mobile phone of the deceased were confiscated. After preliminary investigation, it was found that the woman was living separately from her husband for the last seven-eight years. The DCP said that his parents, who live in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, were informed and the body was handed over to them after the post-mortem.
Police said that AIIMS doctors handed over a suicide note and viscera to the police. “We have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 376 (rape) and 313 (abortion without consent of woman) and further investigation has been conducted,” the DCP said. Police said the woman’s husband, who worked in a private firm in South Extension, was also called in for questioning, who told the police that he and his wife had separated about eight years ago. He said that raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
